On choosing and developing your topic for a short film-Go small, think snapshot, moment, don't get too complicated. -Choose a simple story you can tell completely.
-Subject yourself (Make you be the subject of the film). "Creating stories based on personal experience is a great way to ensure that your script will be unique and truthful, and therefore interesting.
-Unique experiences
-Seen or done something unusual?
-Know somebody cool?
-An encounter
-a twist of fate
-a surprise
-a disruption
-a dream
Once an appealing idea is found, put it away for a day, and pick it up again and see if it still seems like a good idea.

1. Claymation- "The life of a Station Manager" Same idea as the "Kitchen Runner" but takes place in channel 7 studio, where this figure is running around acrobatically.
2. Promo for security system- daughter comes home from work. Baby sitting kids will parents are away. Heres something upstairs but can't find it. time goes on. getting ready to go to bed but then robber jumps out from closet and puts here at gun point. director says "cut" then goes into promo part.
3. story about ice harvesting in boothbay- "The Ice Age" documentary about ice harvesting.
4. Scenic cinematography in boothbay- "The Final Cut" demonstrating the iphones capabilities but the audience doesn't know. Hint- "Time Lapse"
1. teen pregnancy. have a couple of teen moms get interviewd and have flash backs and flash forwards about how there life is and was now.
2. losing some one you love. having flash backs again.
3. an arguement between a child and a parent and making tough life decisions.
4. mystery and scary- walkin throught the woods... heres sounds goes to water and so on..
1) a family tradition of lobstering and a college basketball scholarship candidate making a tough decision...?
2) capt. ahab type thing with a fisherman constantly seeking the huge catch he deserves and somehow dies in the process. (storm, machinery malfunction)
3)a kid who doesnt fit in. maybe bullying
4)a bunch of scarface impersonators at a convention arguing about whos the best one..
1. troubles with eating disorders: show a teenaged girl and her inner battle with her body immage.
2. troubles with teen drinking: show a few teens who have abused boose and different drugs and how much differently their lives could have turned out had they not.
3. fear of heights: show someone conquering their fear and climbing a cliff or rock wall.
4. fear of the unknown: show a highschool senior struggling with the decisions for after school, what to do, where to go, ect.

3. kid pulls out gun in school one kid tackles and takes gun
4.kid going into marines parents strongly against it kid runs away to join up and leaves his life behind
